This Saturday will see Cardiff City compete in the FA Cup final, a remarkable achievement for a young squad lacking the depth or consistency to challenge in the Championship.
Undoubtedley one of the stars of this season has been teenager Aaron Ramsey, the young midfielder impressing in every opportunity. Ramsey looks assured, creative yet remains a strong tackler and gutsy performer making him one of the hottest young properties around.
Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool are all known to be interested in signing Ramsey but there are strong indications that Alex Ferguson has pipped them all and is close to securing Ramsey’s transfer to Old Trafford and Manchester United.
The reported fee is around £5m, a hefty sum but not in line with other teenage prodigys such as Gareth Bale and Theo Walcott in recent years.
Any news is likely to be withheld until after the Cup final, but Cardiff City fans could be seeing Aaron Ramsey in a Cardiff City shirt for the last time on Saturday.

I don’t believe we HAVE to sell Ramsey NOW – nor do I believe it’s in HIS best interests to be sold now .. bit if footballers are to be treated like property and if Ridsdale INSISTS on cashing in NOW at least go in for a bit of old-fashioned property gazumphing if all those big Premiership clubs really do want Aaron – make them pay – they’ve got loads’a’money – so £10 million should be the starter price ..
It does seem bizarre to accept an offer so early in negotiations – surely any price could be pushed further up. It does appear we’re not in a very good position to fight though
Well looks like another young exciting talent is going to be snapped up by the one of the ‘big four’!
we sold jerome for a fee around £4m and ramsey is alot better, has more potenial than jerome, and is younger, so why should we sell for only a £1m less. these are the teams who are spending over £20m on wages a year, so if they want rambo, and ridsdale does want to sell, then dont accept below £10m in my view, all £10m in cash upfront
not meanign to sound ignorent, but i dont watch much championship football; is he a star in the making? where would you rank him in terms of previos starlet? plus what kind of player is he most comparitabe to – i heared he is a “scholes” type player? any inforamtion would be much apppreciated – ps. United4life: Ramsey is a midfielder, best used in the middle but very good cutting in from the flanks. His passing is excellent but it is his vision and awareness that make him special. He looks to have so much time on the ball and rarely wastes possession. At 17 he’s already better than Earnshaw, Chopra, Jerome, Gabbidon etc who have all been through CCFC – and we’ve only see half a season of him!
well his best postion is unknown, as he plays very good all over the pitch, and i believe if he stays at cardiff he has a better future than if he leaves now in the summer.
Undoubtedly he would have a better future with us, but no premiership clubs will be willing to let another have him or risk his price doubling next year. It’s a virtually 0% chance of keeping him.
