Cardiff’s Midfield Selection Issue!

Much has been made of Robbie Fowler and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s arrival in South Wales. Both are experienced and proven goalscorers and are thought by many to be the answer to our lack of goals.

As yet, neither has featured for the first team in league action but the inclusion of both in the matchday squad for tomorrow’s trip to Norwich City raises a question of who makes way for the ‘superstars’.

Warren Feeney will almost certainly lose his bench place, he has looked out of his depth and without a defined team role so far – and his lack of goals is a worry. MacLean, Fowler and JFH will share the strikers roles.

This also leaves a major doubt over Paul Parry. I believe his recent stwitch to striker was solely to accomodate him in the team and allow Ledley and Sinclair on the flanks. Parry adds some much needed pace to the team but will surely no longer be used as a striker with the wealth of options we now have upfront.

Parry is versatile, he can play on the left, right or upfront. Prime candidate for the bench then, but the bench can’t accomodate both Parry and Whittingham can it? Both are primarily wingers and Whittingham is a good player, full of pace and direction although he has been let down by his final ball recently. Whitts had a good game midweek and scored a good goal to win the game.

Who do you think will make way? Parry or Whittingham for the bench? Let us know!

Whittingham looks like he cant be arsed to play atm, think he expects to b first choice- drop him (but i didnt go Tuesday so maybe deserves a chance)

Fairly obvious solution is to drop Ramsey from the bench and use Joe Ledley and Blake as midfield cover allowing Whitts and Parry

  • bluebirdshroom says:

Is there enough variety there to have both though?

  • Aderyn las says:

yes – there’s enough versatility in the team with Ledley, Parry, Capaldi etc so we can afford 2 wingers on the bench. both can change the game

  • bluebird04 says:

keep trevor sinclair on the wide…he is amazing…. parry on the other side….. whittingham and ledders in the center….mcphail sub…….capaldi full back

  • bluebird04 says:

  • bluebird04 says:

keep whittingham in….even though we played terrible against norwhich… he scored the equaliser, and set up the winner for us
