Cardiff City manager Dave Jones has re-iterated his satisfaction at the progress made by his young Bluebirds this season, and reveals his belief that they will come back even stronger next season.

The Bluebirds led the table for much of the season before two poor patches around Christmas and Easter, saw them nosedive down the table and they missed out on the play-offs in the last couple of weeks.

‘We were in the mix for a long time this season, but ultimately we did not have enough to see it through,’ said Jones.

‘We will come back even stronger for next season. That is progress.’

Fans enjoyed the blistering start but have become frustrated with the lack of results and general poor form since then. There have been several key elements missing but Jones has identified the areas which need strengthening and will oversee a squad overhaul during the summer.

‘Everybody at Ninian Park wanted it badly. Now, after only one real season in preparation for the step up, we can continue to build and strengthen for what we all hope will be a successful 2007-2008.’

You have a great little set up at Cardiff, good ground, good team, good manager, supporters a little bit nutty, all in all I wish you luck for next season, hope to see you at the Emirates the season after.
