Cardiff City are without several key players for the visit of Hull allowing some fringe players a final chance to prove to Dave Jones their merit in next year’s squad.

Darren Purse is still sidelined with a calf strain while fellow defender Glenn Loovens has only just began kicking a ball again following a foot fracture. This means that Kevin McNaughton will again be asked to deputise in central defense alongside in-form Roger Johnson.

In midfield, Ricardo Scimeca is missing with a long-term groin problem, so Darcy Blake, Joe Ledley or Willo Flood will partner stand-in captain Stephen McPhail.

Top-scorer Michael Chopra is suspended but Jason Byrne is on crutches so misses a rare chance to impress so Warren Feeney will start alongside Steve Thompson but Matt Green should make an appearance later on.

Hull are waiting on the fitness of midfield pair Lee Peltier (hamstring) and Dave Livermore (knee) while John Welsh is definately out for the Tigers.

Dean Marney and Danny Coles are pushing for recalls to the side but the key returning player is the talismanic Nick Barmby who vowed to bring a victory back to Hull.

jon Parkin, recently recalled from Stoke could start alongside the experienced Dean Windass up-front.
