Cardiff City have been watching a young left-back in action with regards to a permanent move over the summer.
James Nash was not offered a professional contract at the Dons but is still interesting the Cardiff management. The 18-year-old is normally a centre-half, but is left footed and Cardiff scouts have been monitoring his progress and believe his future could lie as a full back.
A Cardiff City under-18s side beat the Dons (captained by Nash) last weekend, and the Bluebirds were impressed by the player.
The Dons academy director Mike Dove confirmed a preliminary interest from Cardiff City and explained their decision to play the youngster at left-back:
‘We understood that Cardiff were having a look at James Nash as a left-back and it worked out within our plans for him to play there.’
‘Nashy had his best game in a long time.’
Cardiff City currently have Joe Ledley playeing at left-back who is primarily a midfielder while Kevin McNaughton and Joe Jacobson are also available in that position.
