What Did Bluebirds Do To Leeds United?

Cardiff City dished out a 4-0 thumping to tonight`s opponents Leeds United when the two teams met back in late October (when we were good). The Bluebirds were somewhat fortunate to grab the opener when Jay Bothroyd capitalised on a howler from a long goal kick but from that moment on – we were excellent.

Since that humiliating defeat at Elland Road however, Leeds United have been is superb form and have embarked on a relentless march up the Championship table and currently sit 1 place and 1 point ahead of the Bluebirds. They certainly bounced back with three wins from the next four games, and remain unbeaten since that mauling 9 weeks ago.

Six wins and six draws from those games is an impressive record, though they have been somewhat held back by three consecutive stalemates and needed a late equaliser to grab a point against Middlesbrough last time out. A 2-0 home victory against league leaders QPR would appear the highlight of the current run, and they would dearly love to add Cardiff City to that list and avenge the earlier defeat. As if that weren`t enough, the winner of tonight`s clash would move into second place in the table and take advantage of QPR dropping points yesterday.

By contrast, Cardiff City are in relegation form, and have seriously faltered over the past two weeks. Whereas the Whites bounced back from a 4 goal thumping at our hands, we followed up a dismal 4-1 battering by Watford with an equally dire 3-0 loss at Bristol City.

Tonight would seem a perfect time to halt this worrying slide, taking points off our rivals and providing a much needed points and confidence boost to the ailing Bluebirds. We have not become a bad side overnight, and are clearly more comfortable playing at home at the moment. There is some optimism regarding the Leeds United clash, but another defeat would surely signal a full-on crisis at the club.
