Cardiff’s Championship season continued with a draw at the Cardiff City Stadium against Burnley on Saturday.

A two-goal lead, with Gunnarsson and Morrison on target in either half, was lost in the final five-minutes when Hennings and an injury-time Connolly own goal meant the Bluebirds drew two-two.

Charlton loanee Watt came in, as expected, for an instant debut and he almost made an immediate impact when he shot wide with Morrison and Noone having chances for Cardiff too with both denied by former Bluebirds ‘keeper Heaton.

As well as appealing a handball, as a Boyd effort was deflected over, the same player almost had Burnley ahead but his effort was cleared off the line by Connolly to keep the scoreline level.

Finally, with half time just four-minutes away, the breakthrough came with a Ralls freekick met by the head of Gunnarsson (41) to give Cardiff a lead at the interval.

In poor conditions this lead was doubled after the hour when Morrison (64) headed the Bluebirds into a two-nil lead around the midway point of the second half as he got onto the end of a Whittingham corner had the points in the bag….

Or so it seemed!

With five-minutes to play, despite his best efforts, Marshall was beaten by Hennings (85) who pulled one back for Burnley who secured a point when Connolly (90) put through his own net in injury-time.

Cardiff remain in 10th but are only a couple of points off the sixth and final play-off place.
