Parkin’s Move To Coventry City Falls Through

Cardiff City look set to stick with the attacking options currently available to manager Malky Mackay after Jon Parkin’s proposed move to Coventry City appears to have fallen through.

Parkin was brought in by Dave Jones on high wages, and though Coventry showed interest, they were unwilling to match his current wage, insisting on a significant drop. Parkin had already spoken of his desire to stay in South Wales, and try to earn a chance in the Bluebirds 1st XI.

With Parkin now likely to stay, Mackay will stick with his current options: Miller, Earnshaw, Gestede, Mason and Parkin. A replacement had been lined up, but this deal is now on hold. A loan deal for Parkin also looks unlikely, unless City continue to pay a hefty chunk of his wage.

The deal to bring Coventry City defender Ben Turner to South Wales is still imminent, though the player and his agent are wating to hear on Birmingham City’s interest – the Blues need a replacement for Blackburn Rovers-bound Scott Dann.
