Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has now given his full after match press conference following the Norwich game, and his thoughts are pretty balanced really.

His words in full are available on the Official Site.

As for how the game ended with Norwich putting us under extreme pressure, Ole commented that being ‘nervous’ probably wasn’t the right word but it was ‘a case of almost expecting them to score, as the momentum was with them.’

‘We had the momentum towards the start of the half, but they had it towards the end. Luckily we’ve got one of the best keepers in the league. David was wonderful, he kept us in the game and I think all of the players owe him a drink tonight.’

Ole goes on to say that having watched the West Ham win over Swansea, and Sunderland getting a good result, he knew we had to get the three points today to keep us well in the mix.

‘We wanted a bright start, but again we started slowly – maybe I should do my half time team talk before the game!’

Having already addressed the Zaha for Whittingham change and his thoughts on that score, I won’t overly repeat his words here. But will pick out the following.

‘I didn’t have any particular doubts in him (Whittingham). I thought Jordan Mutch had gotten into the game with his forward runs in the centre, and that’s why I felt Peter was the one to sacrifice.’

Solskjaer went on to praise Fabio who was another making his debut today and also commented that it took us about 30 minutes to work out how to play to Kenwyne Jones’ strengths but he does want those kind of options during 90 minutes where we can play the nicer looking football, but also learn when it’s best to just go direct and hit the target man, and he feels we now have that, even if we are still adjusting to it.
