Former Cardiff City striker Andrea Ferretti is set to sign for Italian giants Sampdoria on a 4 year deal.

Ferretti was released after failing to break into the Cardiff City first team, although he did impress for the reserves and showed some nice toughes and potential for the future.

In a parting shot, Ferretti hit out at The Bluebirds and revealed his hurt over his lack of chances:

“I like Cardiff but I was frustrated with the lack of opportunities I had at the club, I never had one starting place in the two years I was at City.’

“One month I cannot get a City call-up and the next month Sampdoria believe in my ability as a big striker with technique who can score goals.’

“It`s amazing really.”

Ferretti made 13 appearances for the Bluebirds, he also had an unsuccessful loan spell with Scunthorpe United.

Dave Jones felt that Ferretti was not ready for the English Leagues and was too ‘lightweight’ for such an aggressive division.

Cardiff City have an abundance of strikers at present and Ferretti’s place as promising young striker has been taken by Matt Green.
