Cardiff City’s squad reported back for pre-season training last week and were put through the rigorous fitness tests by coach Alex Armstrong.

Each squad member underwent tests before the summer break and were assigned personal training routines to follow over the holiday. Each member has now been tested to ensure they are fit and ready for the new season and manager Dave Jones was pleased with the efforts of his players.

Jones told the Echo:

‘All credit to them, every player has come back in tip-top condition.’

“Lots of players have gone way past the target we set for them.’

‘That`s a big lift for the squad and the atmosphere in training last week was fantastic.’

The high fitness levels were key in Cardiff’s excellent start to last season. It seems that the players are fit and motivated ahead of the new season.

The first pre-season friendly is this Saturday when the squad will be split to play Carmarthen Town and Merthyr Tydfil simultaneously.
