Cardiff City captain Darren Purse is ‘still’ set to sign the contract extension agreed weeks ago.
The central defender requested an extension to the 1 year remaining on his current deal. Dave Jones spoke with the player and assured him that he was part of his plans although he could not be gauranteed a starting position.
The terms of Purse’s extension were sorted out almost 2 weeks ago, but Purse has yet to sign. This could be due to his holiday and Purse is still expected to accept the offer and remain a Cardiff City player.
Club chairman Peter Ridsdale did confirm however, that there had been no contact from Wigan Athletic credited with a long-term interest and rumoured £1m bid for the former Birmingham City and West Bromwich Albion player.
