The Daily Record is reporting that two Scottish clubs are fighting it out to sign Cardiff City striker Steve Thompson in the transfer window.

The big striker has been transfer-listed since the end of last season after manager Dave Jones was unhappy with Thommo for a lack of goals.

An unfortunate summer accident saw a move to Preston North End scuppered and Thompson worked hard to regain his place in the starting XI. He has looked good recently and was on a good scoring streak until a cilly challenge earnt him a red card, and 3 game suspension.

Recent comments to the Scottish media about his relationship with Dave Jones will not have helped Thompson and he revealed they rarely speak. Nevertheless, Thompson has looked our most effective striker since his comeback.

Aberdeen and Dundee United are both interested in the former Rangers man, and it looks like Thompson will be another to leave Ninian Park in the transfer window.
