Cardiff City travel to Vicarage Road to play the league leaders Watford in a difficult Boxing Day clash.

The Hornets are 2 points clear at the top of the Championship but have been in inconsistent form of late. They beat us 2-1 at Ninian Park earlier in the season but have won one, drawn one and lost one of their last 3 games.

Of particular note to Cardiff fans is the woeful home form of the Hornets. They have lost 3 consecutive games on home turf and have picked up just one point from 15 on offer.

That said, they have genuine quality and Premiership potential. Marlon King is a potent threat and his striking partnership with Darius Henderson (10 & 9 respectively) is the most potent in the Championship.

Cardiff City know all about the dangers of Jobi McAnuff while Jay DeMerit and Danny Shittu are a formidable defensive basis for City to break down.

Cardiff City have been much better of late and have climbed the table as a result. There have been blips, a 2-0 defeat by Charlton was truly abysmal, and our 10 men put up a good fight but went down to Bristol City.

Last Saturday saw us beat Sheffield United at a canter, making James Beattie etc look like schoolboys.

The Bluebirds’ away form is not great but a win and two draws (with the BCFC defeat) is not too bad considering from 5 games. This however will be a tough test.

There are positive signs in Cardiff’s recovery, and encouraging signs from Watfords home form. Nevertheless, this will be a very tough fixture. A point would doubtless be a good result and the Hornets sit atop the Championship on merit. We have some stability in the side, and the passing game is coming together all the time.

We could really use another result to keep morale and momentum, a 1-1 draw is a definate possibility and seems the most likely result to me.
