Cardiff City have some worrying decisions to make, but will wait until the last moment in order to give certain players a chance of making the game against Derby County.

Key defender Kevin McNaughton is one of those, he will have a late fitness test on a hamstring niggle. Darcy Blake is another rated as doubtful after suffering back spasms whilst on duty with Wales. Mark Hudson will return in defence and partner either Gyepes or Gerrard.

Young defender Adam Matthews went off during the Burton Albion Carling Cup tie and may struggle to make the squad. Steve McPhail will certainly miss the game, but is hopeful of a return within a month.

Jay Bothroyd was also withdrawn against Burton but is hopeful of being fit, while Daid Marshall’s elbow complaint remains a concern – Tom Heaton is on standby.

Seyi Olofinjana is hoping for a first start while Jason Koumas could be named on the bench, despite a lack of match fitness.

Derby County are without defender Russell Anderson, who has a groin injury. Shaun Barker will deputise. However, Jake Buxton (groin) and striker Chris Porter (hip) are both nearing full fitness and could feature. Dean Leacock and Gareth Roberts are both fit after injury and will hope to play.

Stephen Pearson is recovering from knee surgery and will not be available.
