Deadline Day Movement For Cardiff City

The end of the transfer window is always an interesting day for Cardiff City fans – often waiting to see if any of our star players will be snatched for cut price fees. However, this year appears different and whilst a big money bid would be considered, we have rebuffed interest from clubs all season and will only sell if we want to.

There will be a couple of new players coming to the club, however – with the more likely of those being defenders Chris Riggott and/or Calum Davenport – the deadline does not apply as both are free agents (not contracted to other clubs).

However, today may still be a busy day since there are departures expected. Most likely is a move away from the club for Gavin Rae – the Scotsman has fallen way down the pecking order and has spoken to Derby County and Leeds United. However, he is unwilling to uproot his young family for a loan deal or short term contract and could opt to remain in South Wales for another season.

Possible loan moves for Anthony Gerrard and Solomon Taiwo have been mooted while today is the last chance for clubs to move for our important team members who they have courted all sumemr. Specifically, those include Nottingham Forest and Burnley – both chasing Peter Whittingham, and, Ipswich Town who remain interested in Stephen McPhail despite being priced out of a move for Michael Chopra.

Of course, if we are to sell one of the important players, fans will want to see replacements coming in, also before the deadline suggesting Dave Jones and Co. may have a busy day ahead.

We’ll wait and see….

id like to see no action in the market, if everyone can stay
in the club and bring riggot and davenport that will do me and maybe a centre mid.

I bet that wont happen though mate… those two will play a friendly this week for us to check their fitness, but if we were going to sign both – we’d have to let Gerrard go today – bit of a risk if neither turns out to be fit enough to play straight away. I think we’ll take one of the other
