Today is the day that Dave Jones will tell each member of his tired squad whether they have a future at Cardiff City Football Club.

The Bluebirds enjoyed a phenomenal squad and played some scintillating football to top the Championship. However, a small squad struggled with injuries and untimely suspensions culminating in a total lack of form and confidence seeing the team plummet down the table and finish disappointingly short of the play-offs.

Dave Jones accused his players of ‘bottling it’ and declared a huge squad cull was in order. He wants to stregthen every area of the team in a big squad revamp and will seek to rebuild the side from a nucleus of around 10 key players.

Amongst those who could be leaving are Steve Thompson, Paul Parry, Jason Byrne, Willo Flood and even captain Darren Purse could find himself leaving.

The major overhaul seems a slight over-reaction but Club Chairman Peter Ridsdale underlined his ambition and determination whilst declaring that no player was safe:

‘There must be significant changes. We have weaknesses and they must be sorted out.’

‘I would expect 50 per cent of the squad to be refreshed in the summer. We have to be ruthless. There is no comfort zone at the club.’
