Cardiff City hotshot Michale Chopra has left the pre-season training camp in Portugal in order to hold talks with Roy Keane and Sunderland regarding a move back up to Tyneside.

The Black Cats turned to Chopra after failing to land David Nugent, and have now had a £5.5 deal accepted by the Bluebirds in what will become a club record deal.

Manager Dave Jones confirmed Chopra’s imminent departure:

‘I am sorry to see him go, everybody in the camp is, But at the end of the day there is a price for every player.’

‘This is good business for us and after all, we are in a business. And for Michael it means Premiership football – we cannot stop him. We wish him all the best with Sunderland.’

City will now step up their bid for Robbie Fowler with improved finances as the look to life without their talisman and start striker.
