Cardiff City recently rejected a serious yet insufficient bid for star striker Michael Chopra. Peter Ridsdale confirmed the bid and stated that it was not Watford (preeviously credited with an interest) who made the bid.

Instead, Roy Keane’s Sunderland AFC are thought to be the bidders following their promotion to the Premiership. Roy Keane is ready to splash the cash in an attempt to remain in the top flight and has identified Chopra as a goalscoring target.

The bid, thought to be around £3m, was rejected but the Black Cats may return with an improved bid for one of the top properties in the Championship.

The move could have some drawbacks for the player in moving to the fierce rivals of his hometown club Newcastle United. Chopra previously stated that although difficult, his desire and ambition would cause him to consider the move and he remains intent on playing in the Premiership.

If we’re daft enough (and greedy enough) to let Chopra go we can say ‘goodbye’ to any hopes of Premiership football – we’ll be an ordinary boot-it-and-run park football team and there’ll be no need for a new stadium because no-one will want to sit in it ..

depends how much of the fee is spendable. What if we had Fowler and Rowan Vine from the money spent…..?

These players rarely come along. Chopra, in our side and style, cannot be replaced. I’m not convinced we should have put so much importance on 1 player but we have and we have to keep him. end of.

Jones seems really to want him go. I think it is a done deal but he is not doo enough for the Prem imho.
