Cardiff City midfielder Stephen McPhail will be suspended for the weekend’s trip to The Scholar’s Ground for the FA Cup 3rd round match against Chasetown.
McPhail picked up back-to-back yellow cards against Watford and Preston, making 5 overall this season and after a 7 day period is banned for 1 match automatically.
In a way it’s good news for Cardiff, McPhail on his day is a hugely influential player and he has played all of Cardiff’s games over the exhausting festive period. A rest will help, and he will not miss any league action while he sits out the ban.
Dave Jones looks likely to field a strong side, in fact almost full strength so could draft in Aaron Ramsey or Darcy Blake in midfield.
The other option is a midfield re-shuffle, involving Ledley in the middle, Whittingham swapping to the left and Paul Parry reverting to right wing. That would mean a start up-front for either Steve MacLean or Steve Thompson.
