Cardiff City manager Dave Jones must select another leader from his Bluebirds squad with Stephen McPhail suspended for the tie.

Club captain is Darren Purse, but he has been kept out of the side by good form from Roger Johnson and Darren Purse at centre-back. Purse has been a bench player for the last 6 weeks, and is not expected to return to the line-up yet.

Purse’s deputy throughout his time at Cardiff City has been the experienced Riccardo Scimeca. However, Riccy has been out for some time with a troublesome groin injury and has yet to feature for the first team yet this season.

Stephen McPhail is next in line but is missing through suspension meaning that Jones must pick another to step up and lead City into the FA Cup clash.

Roger Johnson, Glenn Loovens, Joe Ledley and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink are the most likely candidates in the team.

From that list, Roger Johnson is my pick. He has leadership experience with former club Wycombe Wanderers and is vocal and enthusiastic on the pitch.

Dave Jones however is thought to favour Johnson’s defensive partner Glenn Loovens, who, although quieter on the pitch is a big player, with superb strength and determination. We wait and see…..
