Cardiff City mana Joe Ledley was the sole Cardiff City player involved in Wales’ win over Iceland last night but the Fairwater boy produced a great cross for Wales winner – their third successive win.

It was a relatively dull game, but Wales’ young talent did well and two combined for the matchwinner moments before half time. It was Ledley who got away with a strong run and his cross was deftly flicked in by Ched Evans’ first touch in international football having just replaced Carl Flether.

Evans is another highly rated youngster, he was a transfer target for the Bluebirds and cracked home a stunning winner for Norwich City when they visited Ninian Park this year.

Cardiff City’s other two promising youngsters Aaron Ramsey and Darcy Blake did not make the match squad but will have enjoyed the experience and will surely both have a big future in John Toshack’s plans.
