Cardiff vs Stoke (preview)

Cardiff City entertain the ever-impressive Stoke City at Ninian Park desperately needing a win to prevent a good season ending on a demoralising low note.

Cardiff City have been in and around the play-offs fro some time now but appear to have bottled it at the final hurdle, after losing 3 successive games and now looking out of the race. Stoke City by contrast have gone from strength to strength and timed their run well. The Potters stand a good chance of sneaking into the play-offs and a win at Cardiff would help them no end.

Stoke City manager Tony Pulis, himself a Cardiff fan, has guided his team to 7th place, just one point from the playoffs after 3 successive win including an impressive victory over West Brom. They have won 2, drawn 2 and lost 2 of their previous 6 away games.

In-form Stoke striker Jon Parkin was recalled by his club Hull City leaving the Potters short of options but Riccardo Fuller will cause problems. Fuller leads the scoring charts with 10 and has had a hand in every Stoke goal in the last few games.


Cardiff City are on a wretched run, picking up just one point from the last 15 on offer. Several key players have indicated a ‘dressing room dress-down’ after the last defeat in which some harsh words were spoken. Hopefully the squad can respond by putting in a performance.

Michael Chopra also has a point to prove having not scored since February. The striker has now been caught in the goalscoring charts by Jamie Cureton of Colchester and will be looking to get a goal to lift himself and the team.



The game should be a tough encounter for both sides, Stoke need the win more but Cardiff players are hurt and bruised after recent weeks.
