Cardiff City captain and experienced centre-back wants to see quality players coming into the club during the summer and hopes his manager can find ‘another Michael Chopra’.

Dave Jones will oversee a huge revamp of his squad during the summer with half the current squad set to leave. Jones and Ridsdale have identified players who they want to bring to the club and will hope that they can unearth another star in the Chopra mould.

Following a move from Premiership Club Newcastle United in the summer, Chopra has excelled and ends the season with an impressive 22 goal tally, narrowly missing out on the Championship golden boot award. Cardiff paid around £450k for the player but he has now signed a new deal ensuring Cardiff over 3 million if he were to move. The deal represents excellent value for money given only one season’s development and Everton are rumoured to be showing strong interest in the player.

The Cardiff captain’s place could be under threat , but he wants and expects to stay and be part of a promotion push next time round:

‘I think its well documented that the manager wants a summer clear-out, hopefully we’ll do that and get another couple of decent players in, another Michael Chopra would be nice.’
