Following foul mouthed comments believed to have come for Charlton midfielder Simon Walton were published on the internet, the player has pleaded his innocence and declared ‘I know nothing about them.’

Walton ended a miserable loan spell in South Wales when he picked up a second red card and was banned for the remainder of the season. The controversy arose from e-mails in which Cardiff City were slated and posts on networking website MySpace.

Walton has distanced himself from the comments, and his personal page on the website is now not viewable to members of the public. Walton will now have another reason to want to forget his poor loan spell in Cardiff:

‘I was called in by the gaffer (Bluebirds manager Dave Jones) and he asked me about the e-mails.’

‘I told him they were nothing to do with me.’

Wanted by several Championship clubs, Walton chose to join the Bluebirds but failed to impress. A poor temperament hindered his game, and he generally looked off the pace and contributed little.

Hopefully the incident can be put behind the player, and whilst it never reflected badly on Cardiff City FC can now been forgotten and more important issues making the press.

‘I enjoyed my time with Cardiff City and would not say nasty things about a club who gave me a chance.’
