Reported Cardiff City target Jon Parkin has sealed a move from Hull City to Stoke City and will not be joining the Bluebirds.

Stoke and Cardiff were both thought to be competing for the striker, and, although interest from Cardiff was never confirmed – Parkin is the right build and type of player that City are searching for.

The fee for Parkin is an inital £275 but could rise to close to £500 depending on player appearances and promotion. The fee is more than Cardiff would like to pay for a striker, but this sort of deal may be the only way to attract the right quality of player if they want to succeed.

Parkin revealed he was unaware of serious Cardiff interest and was delighted to join Stoke having spent a successful loan period there towards the end of last season.

He is replaced at the KC Stadium by veteran Dean Windass who scored to secure Hull’s Championship status at Ninian Park last season.

People don’t seem bothered to have missed out, but the list of potential solutions is getting shorter by the day!

If you want to gain promotion £500k plus should be earmarked for a proven striker!
