Cardiff City midfielder Gavin Rae has been given a major boost after being called-up to the Scotland squad for the World Cup Qualifier against Holland.

Not normally a regular, Rae has benefitted from a bright start to the season where he has followed up his promise to net more goals with two strikes already and anotehr goalbound effort that nearly knocked-out Chopra. His energetic displays can be extremely effective when we are dominating while he is also a useful spoiler when opposition teams have the ball.

Rae, at 31, is an experienced head and got the call after injuries to Callum Davidson and Scott Brown while goalscoring hero against Mecedonia James McFadden is out through suspension.

The decision to select Rae is likely contributable to the wealth of Scottish players we have at the club making it a certainty that George Burley will send scouts to CCS. McNaughton, Burke, McCormack and Quinn all have realistic ambitions of representing their country while David Marshall is already a regular feature and currently number 2 behind Craig Gordon.

Congratulations and good luck to Gavin Rae.
