Cardiff City`s key midfielder Joe Ledley has broken a bone in his wrist during a trip to Paris over the International break. The Bluebirds midfielder apparently slipped and fell against his wrist, necessitating a trip to casualty and having a protective cast placed on his lower arm.

Whilst this is not a welcome blow, it is a manageable injury (although painful) and Ledley will be able to play for Wales in midweek, and will also be available for the Bluebirds` crunch clash against Newcastle United on the weekend.

As with all such protective casts, the player will have to present the cast to the referee prior to each game to have a safety check. However, no problems are expected and Ledley himself has previous experience in playing with such support after dislocating his thumb last year.

Ledley will line-up on the left side of midfield for Wales as they take on Russia but will not be captain after the return of Craig Bellamy to the squad.
