Cardiff City have been given a boost and further incentive for when they play Portsmouth at Wembley on 17th May.

It had been known for years that Cardiff City, as the fall under the jurisdaiction of the Football Association of Wales rather than the English FA, would not be nominated to represent the English Football League in Europe.

Even the most optimistic Cardiff City fan (of which there are few!) would not have aexpected the situation to arise with the Bluebirds still some way of the Premiership – winning the FA Cup was the only way to qualify.

That we may yet accomplish after wins over Chasetown, Hereford United, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Middlesbrough and Barnsley FC see up just 90 minutes away from potentially lifting the cup.

Now the FA has confirmed, as expected, that Cardiff City would be nominated for European football if we win. The situation was bound to come under review and high profile allies from UEFA, the Premiership etc came forward in support of the Bluebirds.

Now we know the full situation, we can concentrate on the football and try to make better preparations than the 3-0 reversal at Wolves. Tomorrow is Burnley, and a chance to turn things around.

TBH, would’nt feel right if we played in europe as runners up in the cup anyway. Guess we’ll just have to do the job on the day.

You won’t beat us anyway. We don’t actually have a problem in you qualifying if you did win. I think we find it unfortunate that you feel you must have a welsh national anthem! God Save the Queen not good enough for you?
