Cardiff City have moved to experience in the last few weeks, having tied up a new deal for skipper Darren Purse and signed 34 year old Trevor Sinclair and goalkeeper Michael Oakes, 1 year his junior. In addition, the 32 year olf striker Robbie Fowler remains a top target and could decide on a move in the next week.

The addition of such experience is significant, with the rest of Cardiff City’s squad being young and showing tremendous potential for the future.

The following team, minus a goalkeeper, is a potential first XI – unlikely to be used this season but all of who are expected to play a part for the Bluebirds this season. Darcy Blake, Aaron Ramsey and Matt Green will be used mostly from the subs bench but will almost certainly make appearances in the coming season:

The team has an average age of less than 23 years and every member is under 25. It would not be a top Championship side by any means but could compete at this level and shows some of the exciting emeging talent currently at the club.

Although Michael Chopra departed last week, bids have been rejected for Gunter, Ramsey and Ledley as the club look to hold onto some of their brightest stars.

The future’s bright, the future’s blue…

The future looks promising for Cardiff City, and these youngsters could form the nucleus of a very impressive side in coming years

  • By my reckoning, 7 of those will be in the matchday squad against Stoke while Capaldi is only 25 and another contender

  • With the addition of 1 or 2 players – that side looks capable of challenging any team in the division.
