Cardiff City are missing a striker to supplement McCormack, Bothroyd and the misfiring Eddie Johnson with Ched Evans, Matt Derbyshire and Henri Camara amongst those linked.

However, reports are emerging that City are prepared to turn North of the English border once again and are close to agreeing a deal of Motherwell frontman Chris Porter who manager Mark McGhee admitted he would let go for the right price.

Porter is a 6ft 1in striker and boasts adecent goalscoring record in the SPL (21 from 55 apps) aswell as in a previous spell with Oldham Athletic (28 from 66).

Sheffield United and Nottingham Forest have also been linked with a £300k move for Porter, but Cardiff City appear to be leading the chase at present.
