Cardiff City secured a vital and impressive win over in-form Leicester City tonight, a result that seems all the more important given that the other teams occupying play-off positions failed to win and dropped valuable points.

Whilst the win gave us a vital three points, it also halted Leicester’s run and kept them outside the play-offs. We are now 7 points ahead of the Foxes in 7th place.

However, Norwich City were held at home by a severely depleted Doncaster Rovers side, showing great guts despite missing 14 first team players. That 1-1 draw was a big blow to the Canaries.

Leeds United were also held at home, this time 3-3 in the Yorkshire derby with 14th place Barnsley securing a share of the spoils in an Elland Road thriller.

A stunning game at the City ground saw Nottingham Forest come from behind to take a 2-1 lead against lowly Preston in the 2nd minute of extra time. That looked to have sealed the win only for a Blliy Jones header in the 6th added minute to steal an unlikely point and boost Cardiff City.

Unfortunately for us, the top two of QPR and Swansea City were faultless and both secured wins and clean sheets against Ipswich and Coventry respectively. They stay ahead but the Bluebirds do move up a place into third and sit just behind our South Wales rivals.
