Cardiff City secured a valuable 2-0 victory over fellow promotion hopefuls Leicester City whose on-loan Premiership star Yakubu was kept quiet by the impressive Hudson/Keinen partnership. By contrast, our on-loan star Craig Bellamy did not feature.

Whilst he was expected to play, it had seemed likely that Bellamy did not feature due to concerns over his knee complaint which has been well controlled by City but needs careful management. The Leicester clash came just 3 days after a bruising encounter against Nottm Forest and it appeared bellamy had been rested.

However, jay Bothroyd confirmed after the match that Bellamy was one of a number of players currently suffering with a stomach bug. Bothroyd himself and Dave Jones had also been affected, leading to his own substitution midway through the second half.

Cardiff City certainly do not rely solely on Bellamy and yesterday beat the in-form team of the division without our inspirational captain. Hopefully Craig will be back on the weekend to face Hull City where his added pace on the wing will be a boost, especially away from home.
