Cardiff City striker Warren Feeney is close to signing for Leeds United. I say ‘Cardiff City’ striker though Feeney has barely played for the Bluebirds and is yet to score for the first team since initially joining to replace Michael Chopra.

Since then, Feeney has struggled with a nasty injury but spent two fruitful loan periods first with Swansea City and then Dundee United. He has also remained a regular player for Northern Ireland and has done enough elsewhere to suggest we never saw the best of him in a City shirt.

Whilst still under contract, it always seemed likely that Feeney would leave the club this summer with reported interest from League One, the SPL and Eircom league. It seems one of the league one outfits has won the race and Feeney looks likely to join Leeds United as they fight to return to the Championship next year.

Cardiff City currently have Bothroyd, Chopra and McCormack in the striking ranks and are keen on adding another to the frontline with Motehrwell’s Dave Clarkson and Ched Evans of Man City high on the wanted list.
