Cardiff City have today been linked with a move for yet another England player, this time out-of-favour diminutive forward Darius Vassell.

Vassell, 27, was a club favourite at former club Aston Villa. He moved to Manchester City in 2005 but struggled with form and injuries despite netting 8 goals in his first season.

New Man City boss Sven Goran Erikson used Vassell only sparingly when England manager and is looking to rebuild the squad with him own players meaning Vassell could be sold.

Cardiff have been credited with a £1.5m approach for the striker, but he is likely to be on high wages and despite wanting guaranteed first team football is thought to be unwilling to drop down a division.

It is somewhat flattering to be linked with a high profile player such as vassell. His pace and agility have seen him establish himself in the Premiership and he has 6 International goals. Unlike Robbie Fowler, he is still in his physical prime and is Cardiff could persuade him – he would surely score goals at Championship level.
