Cardiff City Limp To Barnsley Defeat

Cardiff City limped to a defeat to Barnsley and showed little of the firepower you’d expect from an attacking force featuring the likes of Chopra, McCormack and Whittingham. We simply didn’t cope with the swirling wind and missed Jay Bothroyd immeasurably.

The upshot was a poor quality 0-0 affair until the final moment when Mark Hudson handled, and the free-kick inevitably sneaked through. We were battered for much of the game, and you’d have to say Barnsley deserved the win if either side did.

For Cardiff, McCormack went closest with a cheeky chip and quickly taken free-kick, there was also a decent shout for a penalty when Hudson was wrestled to the floor. Barnsley caused havoc at set pieces and Marshall was left flapping helplessly in the blustering conditions.

The less said the better for the Bluebirds, another late goal and consecutive defeats.
