It was a welcome sight for Cardiff City fans to see Kevin McNaughton return to first team action – in for the injred Adam Matthews against Barnsley.

McNaughton had been out with ankle ligament damage since the pre-season, he then suffered a calf strain – further delaying his return to fitness. It was therefore a harrowing sight to see him pull up after only 20 minutes clutching his groin.

McNaughton has a history of hamstring problems and could regularly be seen in pain last season. He has been for numerous tests, scans and consultations about his back and hamstrings but hopefully this was just a tightening and un-related to previous problems.

McNuahgotn was replaced by Quinn and will be assesed this week to see the extent of his injury. Everyone, and most of all Kevin will be hoping he is not ruled out and will be available for Sunday’s game against Ipswich Town.
