Cardiff City have made a daring bid to lure in-demand striker Emile Mpenza. The Belgian striker is free to leave his current club and has attracted interest from Racing Santander in Spain as well as several Premiership clubs including Blackburn Rovers.

Mpenza has played mostly in Germany and has been prolific for each of his clubs to date. His international record is also impressive with 17 goals from 47 appearances for Belgium.

Although an audacious bid, Mpenza is desperate to leave his current club and has been set a deadline to leave of the 20th of this month. He could be tempted by a firm offer on the table and assurances of regular first team action in the Championship but it seems likely that Mpenza will end up elsewhere.

Nevertheless it shows a great deal of confidence and bravery for Jones and Ridsdale to approach such a high-profile name. They obviously beleive they have a chance to sign the forward and reports are that the player has not altogether ruled out the move.

look if clubs see cardiff offer for a player, then other clubs will know he is quality because dave jones has the best judgement of players and will make other clubs bid. so i reckon cardiff should try and buy players but keep it quiet
