Cardiff City manager Dave Jones has spoken out on a blossoming relationship growing between Cardiff City and Premiership and European Champions Manchester United.

Jones’ comments come after the Bluebirds tied up the loan signing of 22 year old goalkeeper Tom Heaton on a season long loan.

The young stopper has not featured for the first team, but has shown potential and is a regular in the Man Utd reserves. Dave Jones believes the move signifies more than just a conventional deal and is keen to exploit a growing relationship between the clubs.

DJ told the Echo:

“It means they trust the club, and me as a manager, to help their future stars develop.”

“If Tom`s move is a success, as we hope it will be, then we will have a good chance of getting more players in the future. That can only be a good thing for Cardiff.”

“When the European champions, one of the best clubs in the world, send you a player, you know you are getting quality.”

“So you look to build that rapport as strongly as possible. That has to be the next aim.”

Alex Ferguson is a known admirer of Dave Jones. The legendary Scot gave the Cardiff boss a tip-off regarding promising teenager Andrea Ferretti and advised Alan Smith to join the Bluebirds to build his fitness. Neither worked out in the end, but hopefully Heaton, and others after him, will do the business and help the club grow.
