Cardiff Blues RFC have signed an agreement to rent Cardiff City’s new stadium at Leckwith for a minimum period of 20 years after they move from Cardiff Arms Park.

Peter Ridsdale told BBC Sport:

‘It’s a fantastic day for sport in the city whereby two leading brands will be playing top level sport in the new stadium.’

‘We are very pleased that Cardiff Blues have signed the licence to play all of their home games at the stadium over the next 20 years.’

Cardiff Blues Chief Exec. Bob Norster said:

‘We positively look forward to a new beginning for both codes in a stadium and facilities designed for modern-day teams and supporters alike.’

The scheme caused plenty of initial controversy with fans of both clubs opposed to the share. The club were open from the start that a groundshare was something they were positively pursuing and saw as crucial to the proposal. The deal was agreed long ago but has now moved on, as has the stadium which is rapidly changing shape.
