Cardiff City Fans (Officially) Outsung By Pompey

Cardiff City lost out to Portsmouth in the FA Cup final after a 1-0 defeat on Saturday, we also lost out on the noise levels aswell after being marginally outsung by the Pompey fans.

The City fans certainly could not be accused of ‘singing only when winning’ and contributed massively to the superb atmosphere within Wembley.

The Portsmouth end recorded a peak of 110.9 decibels compared to 106.2 decibels for the Cardiff end.

Personally, I couldn’t hear much from the Pompey fans although I could tell thay were vocal throughout. Obviously, being in the Cardiff end most noise was drowned out by our own impressive singing with only a few cheers and the occasional ‘Play up Pompey’ breaking through.

The Cardiff fans have recieved praise from many quarters following this cup run, I only hope that the vast majority of those who profess to be lifelong Bluebirds keep up their support next season and make it down to Ninian Park in far higher numbers than this year.

it would be intresting to see the average noise levels. from the pomoey end, i couldnt hear much from you, and you couldnt hear much from us…just shows how good at retaining the atmosphere is really doesnt it…

Oh well, you lose at football and you lose at singing. Never mind!

Have just come on line to say how great I thought your fans were. Commiserations to you, I’m sure. I remember sitting down in my seat and thinking how fabulous everyone was and then thinking: one half of this stadium is going to e unhappy in one and a half hours time. I’m glad it wasn’t us and I really felt for you. But you were gracious in defeat. All the best to you. (Never thought for one minute that you would outsing us tho)!

    Everyone gets outsung by us.

yep, nothing to be ashamed of as matt says we outsing most others… it does go to show tho just how deceptive things can be, from the cardiff end you say we sounded quiet, from the pompey end you sounded quiet – you cannot always get a clear indication of the sound levels can you…
i would like to thank the cardiff fans that applauded us as we left – and there were plenty of you that did, good luck for next season.

You couldn’t hear us (pompey) and we couldnt hear you perhaps the new wembley aint as perfect as first thought!, anyway that to one side, I think it is fair to say that both teams and sets of supporters have done themselves and the FA cup proud, it was a fantastic occasion and the passion is definately still in the FA cup (sod the so called top 4). Well done Cardiff all the best for next season

Congratulations on your great performance guys. You really took the game to us. Any other year I would’ve been cheering you on too, but I’ve been waiting my whole life for this, as I’m sure you all were too. Watching on TV in Australia both fans sounded awesome.

The ayatollah they told me on the tube but I could not get any further on that one. I would also add my congratulations to the Cardiff fans who did their side proud. As Matt says Pompey outsing everyone so nothing to be ashamed of.
