Cardiff City and Stoke City played out a goal-less draw last night in what was far from a classic at the Britannia Stadium. Neither side created many chances and it was easy to see why both clubs are flirting dangerously with the relegation zone. With that in mind, however, it has to be considered a decent point for the Bluebirds.

A Jordon Mutch header was about the best Cardiff City mustered, though we again looked dangerous at set-pieces. David Marshall was the busier of the keepers, but remained largely troubled. Saves from Assaidi and Charlie Adam were fairly routine for the Scotsman. Both sides did enjoy good spells, both there was an obvious lack of cutting edge as well as good performances from both sets of defenders.

Declan John came in for the injured Andrew Taylor, again looking composed and assured. It’s a big ask for a teenager having made just two starts ever – both in the Premiership and some months apart.

The point lifts us above Norwich City, who were spanked 5-1 by a Suarez inspired Liverpool. The We have continued to pick up points, which is important, and sit in 15th place. A good run of results, or a bad one could define our season and with the other relegation candidates like Hull City showing decent form – Cardiff City need to sneak a coup,e of wins to move clear of the drop zone.
