Cardiff City boss Dave Jones has bucked tradition at the Bluebirds by publically stating his desire to bring three new faces into the club.

Jones works very closely with peter Ridsdale and it seems inconceivable that these comments would be made without his chairman’s knowledge whilst fans can surely expect at least one more signing as surely Jones would not want to look bad in the press.

Ched Evans is one player definately under scrutiny, whilst Matt Derbyshire, Glenn Loovens and one un-named player from league one are possibilities.

ones told BBC Wales:

‘I think honestly I need three players to give us the maximum push we possibly need, and that’s if we don’t lose anybody as well,’

‘We are trying to build something here.’

‘We’ve still got to try and bring players in to give this squad the best opportunity we possibly can.’

No players are expected to leave the club save for Willo Flood, already out on loan. We do have some strength in depth but few real options or competition for places.

any quality additions to the squad would see the Bluebirds with an excellent chance of making the play-offs this season and underline the club’s ambitions. In recent seasons, these statements have not been backed-up – this time, everything is different as the claims are bolder and we have acted positively to hang onto players like Ledley.
