Cardiff City manager Dave Jones has admitted there has been interest in CCFC club captain Darren Purse but the Bluebirds will not be agreeing to any deal unless a suitable replacement can be brought in.

Purse did start the season as first choice but has since lost his place to the impressive Gabor Gyepes. That has seen the proud Purse spend almost two seasons as a substitute and he is understandably frustrated.

Nevertheless, Purse is determined to force his way back into the side and has publically stated his desire for a new Cardiff City contract. his current deal expires in the summer, and the signs are not good for Darren with DJ confirming he is searching for a replacement.

ones told BBC Wales:

‘We’ve had inquiries about Darren Purse. Darren knows the situation that we won’t be letting any players out until we’ve got replacements.’

‘Darren knows this and is happy. He is still trying to earn a contract here which is fine, but he knows I’m looking for other players.’

Several clubs have shown interest in Darren Purse with Charlton Athletic and Leeds United showing the strongest advances. He is an experienced professional, and useful back-up but despite showing some very good form early this season – he remains error-prone and easily beaten for pace.
