Cardiff City scored a good win against a depleted Sheffield Wednesday squad, but despite dominating for the entire match – the Bluebirds found it tough going and needed a huge slice of luck.

A number of chances went begging, Bothroyd hooked over and Johnson’s header was saved. Gavin Rae won a free-kick (given by the linesman) when the referee waved play on after penalty claims only to give the free-kick. It was a penalty or nothing, never a free-kick – Bothroyd’s effort hit the wall.

The opener came minutes into the second half when Bothroyd knowcked down to Johnson whose mishit took a wicked deflection and crawled over the line with the Owls keeper stranded.

Not long later it was 2-0 after neat play between Ledley and Routledge saw the Welshman scythed down in the area by Tommy Spurr – Chops stuck away the penalty.

Sheff Wed has little luck or attacking play but then they didnt look in too much discomfort at the back. Some dodgy decisions didnt help their cause but captain Wood came closest to a goal when he hooked over from close range after City failed to clear a cross.

Ledley went through from a Parry pass but couldn’t finish, Chopra had a goal disallowed for offside while we also hit the post twice. Sheff Wed were unbeaten in five, they’re not anymore and we continue our assault on the Championship….when will it end?!?
