Cardiff City manager gave his Bluebirds a dressing room roasting pre-Christmas after a sloppy first half against Sheffield Wednesday. Jones told BBC Sport:

‘I had to give the players a half-time roasting as we were sloppy and never dictated the game.’

‘We needed that bit of luck for Roger’s goal to start us off, but after that we went for the kill.’

‘There are still a lot of points to play for and we are chasing down those teams still above us.’

Sheffield Wednesday boss Brian Law was critical of the refereeing after City’s penalty. I thought that was impossible to argue although Law may have had a point with some of the other decisions.

‘We were well-organised, but Cardiff had a large slice of fortune for their opening goal.’

‘Then they had a penalty and the judgement call from the officials must be spot-on.’

‘But the referee’s assistant wasn’t up to it today and should maybe pay a visit to Specsavers.’

i was bemused that there were no cards shown. the poorest officials ive seen for a long time giving throws to cardiff when they were clearly Owls and vice versa. Specsavers i agree!
