Cardiff City travel to Blackpool tonight to face the Seasiders and both clubs hoping to pull away from the relegation pack into mid-table.

The Tangerines were promoted via the play-offs last season and have made a reasonable start to the Championship campaign. They are tricky customers especially on their home ground with only one defeat in their last 6 matches at Bloomfield Road.

Unbeaten in three, they have the same number of points as Cardiff City and both clubs have embarked on a mini-resurgence of late.

In classy midfielder Wes Hoolahan they have a good prospect and one to watch for the future. A former PFA-Ireland young player of the year, he has impressed since a controversial move from Livingtone – evenually approved by FIFA. He is currently the Blackpool top scorer with 4 league goals.

Manager Simon Grayson is relatively new to management, Blackpool are his first club but his impact has been impressive and already raised a few eyebrows.

Cardiff City are improving. A recent win at home to Ipswich was followed up by successive draws against Leicester City and Hull City. They have also picked up a morale-boosting 4-1 win over Colchester although those results were interjected by a terrible performance in losing 2-0 to Charlton Athletic.

Momentum is the key for Cardiff City at the moment, they are beginning to show some semblence of form but ned to string results together and make a concerted charge up the table.

Off field worries must be a concern to the players with banks witholding crucial money, an impending court case and far too often hearing of the word ‘administration’. However, the players and manager alone are responsible for on field problems and these could be significantly improved by a win tonight. If we play as we did for long periods against the U’s, I can see that happening.
