Cardiff City have had a bid for Blackburn Rovers’ frontman Jason Roberts turned down by the Lancashire club following the departure of manager Mark Hughes.

Roberts is a proven striker, powerful yet pacy and with a good eye for goal. He has been solid for Rovers if but his partnership with former Wigan Athletic team-mate Nathan Ellington was formidable and helped the 30 make his name.

Cardiff City bid for Roberts, but Rovers are keen to hold fire on any move whilst other clubs, including some in the Premiership, are also thought to be keen on the former West Brom striker.

Other names linked with City are Michael Chopra, Ched Evans and Freddy Eastwood with Dave Jones keen to add at least two attackers to the squad.
