Barnsley host Cardiff City at Oakwell on Saturday with the Bluebirds looking to bounce back from a derby defeat and the Tykes looking to continue their ascent up the Championship table after some much improved form of late.

Brian Howard left Barnsley over a year ago now but was a usual in the ‘one to watch` category. Another familiar name and Cardiff City favourite Kayode Adejayi has also departed – he missed a sitter in the FA Cup semi-final after the Cardiff defence split like a kitkat to allow him clear through. As such, Barnsley have a relatively unfamiliar team, but have assembled a useful squad on a low budget.

Iain Hume, Jamal Campbell-Ryce and Stephen Foster are all good players, but the in-form Barnsley man-of-the-moment is undoubtededly Daniel Bogdanovic – he will provide a stern test for the so-far shaky Bluebirds defence – already changed after the injuries to Gerrard and Matthews.

Bogdanovic is a Maltese International, and even at the age of 29 is already at his 12th club. However, he has scored goals at every club he has represented and is already the clubs top scorer for this season. Despite a slow start, Bogdanovic has now netted in his previous 3 league games and has 6 for the season. He is a tall player, with good strength and attributes aswell as a decent finish. However, although 6 foot 2, he also possesses good pace and caused serious problems for a youthful Manchester United side in a recent Carling Cup encounter.
