Cardiff City won a memorable FA Cup quarter final at Riverside, the ground of Premiership mid-tablers Middlesbrough.

The result was a drastic return to form for a Cardiff City side struggling for goals and form in the Championship. However, the Bluebirds took an early lead and dominated the rest of the proceedings nullifying any Boro threat.

With Tuncay and £10m Alfonso Alves kept quiet, Johnson and Loovens were immense. McNaughton kept a close watch on dangerman Downing and barely gave him a sniff.

Whittingham scored a great goal, McPhail dictated tempo while Parry never stopped running. Who could forget the contribution of teenager Aaron Ramsey who looked a class above Rochemback and Gary O’Neil.

In short, there were some brilliant performances for Cardiff City. All had good games but who is your pick for man of the match?

Vote NOW on the Vital Cardiff homepage here and have your say on the cup hero from this round.

Remember, we’ve had a player nominated for the FA player of the round EVERY round so far – who’d bet against another nomination this time round?!?

Hard to look past Whitts tho – thought he was outstanding. gret goal and another good assist – really made the difference and provided the quality we’ve been missing
